Data mapping

Identification of personal data processing.

As a first step toward becoming GDPR-compliant, data mapping is a key activity. Due to Data Mapping, you can identify scope of the project, project stakeholders, and potential risks for the company. Additionally, this is the first step towards creating a Register, as outlined in Article 30 of the Regulation.

Data Mapping consists of:

Identifying the categories of personal data that the company processes.
Identifying the business units, third parties, and IT infrastructure of the organization that processes personal data.
Description of the data flows.
